Overriding Duration on a Rental Contract

This article explains how overriding duration on a rental contract functions.

Override duration gives you control over how the rates, coverages, and fees are computed. With this feature enabled, you must manually set the quantity of the rates, coverages, and fees. The system will no longer recompute any of the rates, coverages and fees automatically based on pickup and return time.

Once you have started the check-out process for the contract, all the rates, coverages, and fees will be available to edit and will no longer be dependent on the duration of the contract. Rates that become editable include the Extra Hour, Extra Day, Fallback Hourly, and Fallback Daily Rates.

To update the coverages and fees quantity, the user can update the “Override Duration” field located above the coverages section. Changing this field will update all the coverages, all the mandatory fees, and all the fees that have not been modified.

Note: If you extend the contract, the fallback charges, coverages, and fees will no longer be recomputed. It will be up to the agent to manually change the charges to the correct quantity.

If a renter returns late or returns earlier, it will be up to the agent to manually change any charges during check-in because the system will no longer recompute the fallback charges, coverages, and fees.
